School Safety Announcement

March 19, 2018

To all students/guardians;

To ensure greater safety and as a recommendation from law enforcement, the Tioga Central School District will no longer allow high school students to carry any type of bag during the school day effective Monday, March 26th.  Each and every student has two lockers issued to them, one in the hallway for their books and personal belongings, and one in the locker room for physical education.  Students will still be allowed to utilize backpacks to carry their belongings to and from school, but must secure their bags in their locker prior to homeroom. Both locker rooms will be open prior to the homeroom bell for students to drop off clothes/sneakers for their physical education class.  Athletes with oversized bags will have a secure location in the locker rooms to store their bags.

The district has carefully considered this decision and the students inconvenience during the school day.  In light of recent events, the district feels that safety concerns must take priority over convenience.  There will be a one week grace period as students get familiar with the location of their locker and the time required to use it.  Parents and students can direct their questions to the High School Main Office

Thank you for helping us create a safe and secure environment for all of our students!

Sincerely,

Dr. Hamilton
Superintendent
