New Elementary Principal Selected!

Michelle Bombard

The Tioga Central School District is pleased to announce that Michelle Bombard will be recommended for the position of Tioga Elementary School Principal at the April 23rd Board Meeting!

This recommendation is the result of a rigorous statewide search and lengthy interview process with over 30 candidates.  She will be replacing retiring Principal, LuEllen Hoyt.

“There are so many aspects of leading a building and school community that provide me with passion and joy every day” wrote Ms. Bombard. “As a school principal, I am looking forward to building a strong foundation of student success.”

Ms. Bombard is a graduate of Tioga who returns as Elementary School Principal with a wealth of skills and experience.  She was a field reporter and news producer for WBNG-TV before making the transition to the education field.  Her teaching career began as an English teacher for Seton Catholic School and then librarian for Elmira Notre Dame.  In 2011, she started at Newark Valley in the first of many roles that included Director of Libraries, Director of Technology, Director of Curriculum, and High School Principal.  Bombard holds degrees in Broadcast-Print Journalism from the College of Saint Rose, K-12 Library Sciences from Syracuse University, and Educational Leadership from Massachusetts College.

While at Newark Valley, Ms. Bombard was instrumental in developing a comprehensive K-12 program to support the social and emotional needs of students.  She also helped launch a blended learning academy for students who struggled in the regular educational setting.  In addition to her professional career, she finds time to help with the local little league and youth basketball programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Bombard back to Tioga!” said Superintendent Dr. David Hamilton. “She brings a unique K-12 perspective to the job as well as an ability to connect with students and families from all walks of life.”

Ms. Bombard will begin in July as part of a brief transition period overlapping with Ms. Hoyt.  Please stay tuned for more information and welcome events where you can come and meet our new Principal!
